Rewarding system

The Rewarding System is a way of promoting the diffusion of scientific ideas through social media. You earn rewards in the form of "doubloons", which will be the cryptocurrency that you can only trade for points or any of the perks detailed below.

Since this is an initiative to have you earn extra bonus points, the conditions are unappealable. If a student or a guardian make a complaint, directly or indirectly, about how this system is handled by the teacher, it will be expunged in its entirety with immediate effect across all grades. Suggestions are more than welcome, though.

Conditions:

1. You can only make five total posts on Twitter/IG/Pinterest combined per day.
2. You can only publish one blog post per day.
3. At the end, you can only earn 5+ bonus points per class.
4. You may not carry over excess doubloons to the next school term.

How do you earn doubloons?:

Collaboration through social media.

1. 1 blog post (min. 500 words and does not apply to HW)

• The following conditions apply:

1st term 1 st semester = 15 doubloons

2nd term 1st semester = 10 doubloons

1st term 2nd semester = 5 doubloons

2nd term 2nd semester = 0 doubloons

1 international comment= 5 doubloons

3. 1 awesome tweet (#sunsen18, #sunsen19, #sunsen20) = 2 doubloons

• The following conditions apply:
  • No copy/paste. The writing must be original.
  • Random scientific facts will not be considered.
  • You may tweet a link to your blog post.
  • Tweet may be a comment on a nice scientific article, with the link included.
  • Tweet content must not be the title of the article.
• Applicable starting the 2018-2019 school year.
  • 1st term 1 st semester = 100+ followers
  • 2nd term 1st semester = 150+ followers
  • 1st term 2nd semester = 200+ followers
  • 2nd term 2nd semester = 250+ followers
  • The above will also apply for Instagram and Pinterest

4. 1 instagram or Pin = 2 doubloons

• The following conditions apply_
  • No copy/paste. The writing must be original.
  • Picture must be original work; no stock photos allowed.
  • Post may be a comment on a scientific fact depicted in the photo.
  • Post may be a picture with a strong biblical or spiritual message.
  • Post may be a lab activity, class project (Science), home-gathering for the purpose of studying or working in class project,
  • No scientific articles in here.

5. Attend reinforcements (applies only if you did not flunk the class.)

6. Turning in HW ahead of time. = 1 doubloon per working day

7. Student of the month award = 7 doubloons

8. Honor Roll = 10 doubloons

9. High Honor Roll = 15 doubloons

10. Others

Khan Academy

1. Watching videos assigned. ( 1 min = 0.5 dbs)
2. Completing task assigned. (1 correct answer = 1 doubloon)
3. Suggesting a relevant video or resource that has not been assigned. (5 doubloons)

Conditions:

• You can only watch videos and complete tasks assigned.
• You will earn the total of video views dbs if you do not flunk the topic's quiz.
• You will keep the completing tasks assigned regardless of your quiz grade.

Braingenie

1. Answer questions assigned in goal (1 correct answer = 1 db)

Cashing out:

• 1 Bonus point (no more than 5 bonus per class) = 20 doubloons
• Hall pass = 12 doublons
• 1 bathroom break = 3 doublons
• HW permit = 5 doubloons per day
• early recess leave (5 min) = 10 doubloons

Obligatory cash-outs:

• Coming late to class = 2 doubloons
• Incorrect uniform = 3 doubloons
